Top Ten Smartphones – The Best Android Series is designed to do one thing: giving you definite and objective answers to subjective debates that fill the smartphone landscape. Which battery is the best? Which cellphone actually has the best display? How do you know that performance is as good as a manufacturer’s claim when so many companies are the benchmarks of the game? How do you choose the best smartphone overall?

When all is said and done, there is only one device that crowns the best smartphone in 2018. The device must excel in many areas, including cameras, screens, performance, audio and batteries. You don’t have to win in each category – although that of course helps your chances – it just has to pile up better than the overall competition.

Top Ten Smartphones

Price is not a consideration here, being the best. That’s why we have a special category for the best cellphones at a more affordable price. So when you empty the piggy bank and put it on the table for one phone above the other, which phone should you buy if you want the best in 2018?

The best of Android 2018: The winner is …
After weeks of testing on 30 mobile phones, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 has won as the best smartphone in 2018. For many of you, this will serve as a confirmation of what you already know to be true. For others, you might be surprised that Samsung’s additional increase is so great for such competitive fields. The underlying reality is that smart phones are so good these days that a gradual increase is still important.

The Galaxy Note 9 takes the top position is a good result for companies that are surrounded by scandals in recent years. Despite turbulent sales in the troubled landscape, Samsung still sends one in five phones globally. Some people feel like Samsung is lying down, playing it safe. But Samsung continues to sharpen the razor sharpness every year, resulting in increasingly competitive telephones even if extraordinary big changes look like the past.

Let’s look at the statistics. The Galaxy Note 9 is a direct winner in the Best of Android screen category even as some competitors touch their heels. Note 9 also issued one of our best camera categories to become the most technically accurate camera (the Google Pixel 3 series issued another award for computational photography). The Note 9 also has a battery life that is strong enough to secure fourth place, excellent performance that is locked in fifth place (it is a very, very close race), and the top ten results for audio. (Now, you can take Note 9 with $ 200 via the button below!)

In this type of test, consistency is more important than a prominent feature. Having a great camera but a weak battery won’t take you to the podium, just like great performance, but bad audio won’t help you. If you want to be the best, you have to be great at everything we can measure, not just a few of them.

Of course, we don’t have a software category or UI because it’s impossible to score semi-objectively (but if it’s not true we will be happy to hear it). So absorb this result with the realization that important factors such as frequency of updates, after-sales support, price stability and software have not been considered. These factors are very important, yes, but they cannot be measured in the same way as our Best Android category can.

We are introducing this year’s Android Readers Best Choice Award to allow you to evaluate our unlimited additional considerations. We run bracket-style competitions on our site and social channels that allow you to choose your favorite phone. This might end up being one of our category winners or something else completely: it’s up to you. Heroes Choice Competition enters the final stage, so keep following and continue voting!

Here are the winners of each of the main categories at Best of Android 2018:

The best smartphone: Samsung Galaxy Note 9
The best camera: Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and Google Pixel 3/3 XL
The best batteries: Huawei P20 Pro (battery life) and Huawei Mate 20 Pro (charging)
Best audio: LG V40
Best display: Samsung Galaxy Note 9 (overall) and Razer Phone 2 (gaming)
Best performance: Huawei Mate 20 Pro

Look forward to our best value winners, the best smartphone innovation award, and the Choice Award that we will announce in the coming days.

The unique part about Best of Android is that, even though we crown winners in each category and one device as a whole, you don’t have to agree with the cellphone that we say is the best. If your specific criteria for what’s best differ from us, you can simply dig up the data to find information that is more important to you. So, if you agree with the results of our weighting algorithm or score, raw numbers are always there for you to learn and draw your own conclusions.

This year we have seen a number of favorites fall by the wayside, some confirmed suspicions, and some special designations that are famous in the circle of winners. It’s impossible to please everyone at all times, so we encourage you to debate the results in the comments and suggest specific comparisons and tests that you want to see in more detail. We will have more content about the 2018 Best of Android data that we have collected, so look forward to more after all the awards have been shared.
