Smartphone Medics – Oppo has opened the first PUBG themed shop in Bangalore. Oppo’s showroom has been designed as a battleground at PUBG Mobile. Customers can also feel the game on the Oppo F9 Pro smartphone. Commenting on the launch, Mr. Will Yang, Brand Director, OPPO India, said, “With the great success of PUBG among young people, we are pleased to announce changes to our brand showroom based on PUBG. Our unique showrooms have been designed to serve Indian young people who keep abreast of new and interesting trends in the market. By utilizing this partnership with Tencent Games, OPPO wants to strengthen its relationship with young players because F9 Pro is the perfect combination for a unique and integrated experience. ”
Oppo has partnered with Tencent Games recently to end the PUBG Mobile Campus Championship. The eSports tournament receives more than 250,000 registrations with a total of 10,000 teams from more than 20,000 colleges. The PUBG Mobile Campus Championship starts on September 26 with the final round which takes place on October 21 and 22.
The eSports tournament starts with an online qualification that displays a total of 600 matches. There were four knockout rounds leading to the final where 20 teams fought it out at KTPO, Whitefield in Bengaluru. ‘The Terrible Nightmare’ from Mumbai is the winning squad that takes home the grand prize of Rs 15,00,000. The tournament has a 50 lakh prize pool together with Oppo accessories and smartphones.
The top 15 teams are each given an Oppo F9 Pro smartphone. Besides this special award is given to participants for different achievements. The title ‘MVP’ is given to the best player overall with the maximum number of MVP awards. ‘The Executioner’ is given to players with total murders while ‘The Medic’ is for the highest number that is revived.
Likewise, players who recover the highest amount of health are given the ‘The Redeemer’ award. There is an award for players with maximum murder in one lobby. Finally, ‘The Lone Ranger’ is for players with maximum time to stay in the game.
