“In the past two years, we have consistently led the world in 5G, including launching the world’s first commercial 5G service last month. This successful test, using a real smartphone, widened our leadership, “said Bill Stone, vice president, Technology Development and Planning for Verizon. “We will be the first to offer a 5G smartphone that can be upgraded on our network by 2019.”
The company does several tests via a 5G connection, including browsing the internet and placing video calls. Transmission is completed through the Verizon 28 GHz spectrum and Samsung 5G New Radio solution (NR). Moto z3 with a 5G moto mod is supported by a Qualcomm® Snapdragon ™ X50 5G modem, along with an innovative mmWave QTM052 antenna module.
“This test is also a step closer to getting increased speed and connectivity that will affect all aspects of our daily lives. 5G will be a transformational leap in wireless, and we love being a part of it, “Shakil Barkat, vice president, Global Product Development at Motorola.
“Samsung’s initial and extensive innovation in 5G helped lay the foundation for next generation wireless communication,” said Magnus Ojert, vice president, Network Division, Samsung Electronics America. “Starting with our contribution to Verizon 5G Home services, commercialized on October 1, and now with 5G New Radio, we are excited to continue our work with Verizon while advancing our lead in delivering 5G mobile technology that will benefit consumers, businesses and cities. “
