Ac Moore Coupon Smartphone – Samsung has threatened to release a folding cellphone for a better part of five years, and now it looks like it really happened. In an interview with CNBC at the IFA trade show last week, mobile CEO DJ Koh, who has been discussing the company’s folding cellphone project, is likely to get all but announced that we will get the first look on new handsets before the year is up.

According to CNBC, Koh “hinted that further details of the device could be unveiled this year at the Samsung Developer Conference in November in San Francisco,” but stopped telling when it would actually go on sale. Koh said that the process of developing a new cellphone had “almost finished.”

Based on his rather vague comments, it might be a preview rather than a full launch, and most likely will be labeled as a prototype. It might not even have a name. But make no mistake: Samsung is determined to announce the first cellphone that can truly be folded for one reason and one reason: being the first, not because the world needs it. Or even want it.

Know when to fold. Em
Koh had told the world last month that Samsung would launch its folding cellphone as soon as possible because he “didn’t want to lose the title” first in the world. “That was a bad reason to release anything, but worse when you talk about the latest technology that doesn’t need to be crammed by consumers.

Our cellphone is big enough. Samsung’s own Note 9 is 6.4 inches, the upcoming iPhone XS at Apple is rumored to be 6.5 inches, and the Pixel 3 XL can reach 6.7 inches. Because anything bigger will push the boundaries of what can get into our pocket, Samsung, Huawei, and others turn to folding screens to make the phone bigger without the need for an extra bag to carry it.

That is a noble mission. We can argue forever whether our phones really need to be bigger, but if they do, something needs to be given. Our bezel can only shrink so much, and finally a new type of form factor will be needed. And folding seems the best way to deal with it. Last year, ZTE tried its hand on a folding cellphone with Axon M hinges, but the new Samsung cellphone looks to have a real screen that folds.

But designing a new product to meet a goal or need is far different from designing one to beat others. The corners are cut, a compromise is made, and the end result suffers. In addition, the relentless pursuit of Samsung “first” rarely produces products that people want. There’s a Galaxy Gear smartwatch, which is a clumsy and confusing mess; The original Galaxy Note, which is a handset giant with limited application support; The Galaxy S6 Edge is overpriced and buggy with all features that don’t last more than one year. Samsung is proud of being the first, and likes to remind us that every opportunity is there.

If and when Samsung introduces its first folding cellphone later this year, it will get the right headlines and buzz. Then we will know the price, which is likely to exceed $ 1,000. Then the review will roll and people will decide whether they really want to be the first person to block them with the first fold phone. My guess is not.

Being the first brings the world of problems
But while the first can be a great badge of honor, it can also backfire. Samsung is known as a premium telephone company, but has struggled to sell it this year. Both the Galaxy S9 and Note 9 are worth the favor, and if Samsung pushes its folded cellphone to market only for relevance, that could be a problem. Not only folding mobile technology that is bleeding, there are many opportunities to make it spectacular. The question is far greater than logistics, and Samsung’s track record with early technology does not always give me hope that it solves everything for satisfaction.

In his CNBC interview, Koh said all the right things about the upcoming folding Galaxy phone when he tried to convince us that Samsung had covered its base:

If the experience is the same as a tablet, why do they (consumers) buy it? … So every device, every feature, every innovation must have a meaningful message for our end customers. So when the end customer uses it, (they think) ‘Wow, this is the reason Samsung made it.’ ”

I hope that’s the problem. Because now, it seems like the only reason Samsung makes it is because they can.
